Widow of school bus driver to get $7.7M from asbestos lawsuit

A jury in Syracuse Court recently awarded $7.7 million to a woman whose husband was exposed to asbestos and later died of mesothelioma cancer, Syracuse.com reported on January 6.

According to reports, former school bus driver Lewis Nash, 81, died of mesothelioma in September 2012. Nash, who worked for Fayetteville-Manlinus for more than three decades, was exposed to asbestos fibers in the garage where asbestos-laden buses that came from Navistar were either repaired or maintained. Navistar was found responsible for Nash’s death last December, the jury ruled. The award amount is considered the largest asbestos settlement the Syracuse area has seen.

Families of workers who died after being exposed to asbestos fibers often experience financial hardships, in addition to the physical and emotional pain caused by the unfortunate loss. If you believe you or a loved one has experienced this, the asbestos lawyers of Williams Kherkher may lessen your financial burden by pursuing damage claims against the parties responsible.
