Two asbestos extraction firms slapped with $379K fine

Two asbestos extraction companies in Seattle, Washington were ordered to pay $379,100 and close their doors due to grave violations discovered at one demolition site, reported on November 10.

Reports said at least 19 counts of “willful and serious” breaches were allegedly committed by Asbestos Construction Management (ACM) and related entity, Partners Construction. The state’s Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) found large quantities of the material left behind, and alleged that the two companies failed to keep their staff and others safe from asbestos dust at a demolition site at 3924 Linden Ave. North. The two companies were both decertified by L&I. The regulatory agency stated that workers and people in the area were likely exposed to asbestos as a result of the violations committed by the two companies.

Being exposed to asbestos can cause fatal respiratory illness. However, if this has happened to you or to a loved one, treatment funds may be awarded to you if negligent parties are involved in your exposure.
