Asbestos investigation underway at Melbourne cement factory

Health officials in Melbourne, Australia are investigating a cement plant allegedly responsible to the deaths of several people exposed to asbestos, an article on abc.net.au reported October 12.

According to reports, asbestos has not been properly contained in the old Wunderlich concrete plant located in Sunshine North. There have already been several reported deaths in the community linked to asbestos. Some are now pursuing settlements for the negligence. The plant was reportedly one of the biggest asbestos producers several decades ago, a legal counsel stated. The lawyer advocating for the injured parties, Margaret Kent, is trying to spread awareness to those who may have been affected in the community. She wants to remind people to remain vigil, as there “is no safe level of exposure” to asbestos.

The lawyers at Williams Kherkher understand many people suffer serious respiratory illnesses after being exposed to asbestos dust. If you think you have been exposed to this dangerous material, getting a lawyer’s help is important if your exposure is a result of somebody else’ negligence.
