Construction firm and owner fined for exposing workers to asbestos

A Pennsylvania-based construction firm that conducted a recent demolition was ordered to pay a fine for violating the Clean Air Act, reported on September 4.

Reports said Lycoming Construction Services, LLC put their workers at risk during the demolition of a former industrial complex in Jamestown last February 2012. Complaints claim that the company had previous knowledge that the buildings were contaminated with asbestos. The company reportedly violated the Clean Air Act when they failed to provide safety measures for their staff dealing with asbestos. Lycoming Construction has been put on probation for two years, and fined $100,000. The owner Leo Williams was also put on probation for one year and personally fined $25,000.

Sadly, many workers, and even their loved ones, suffer fatal respiratory problems after being exposed to asbestos in the workplace. In this difficult situation, enlisting a lawyer is beneficial if you think negligent companies are liable for your illness.
