New study links road dust to development in mesothelioma

A new study done by the University of Hawaii Cancer Center has made a link between the erionite exposure in road dust and the development of precursors to mesothelioma.

In the study, researchers injected mice with erionite, which is a known carcinogen, and it was found that the mice showed signs of abnormal cell growth and inflammation. These symptoms are now early signs of mesothelioma.

This rare form of cancer is primarily caused by exposure to asbestos, but this new study shows that there may be a new cause. The erionite that was used in the study was found in the road dust on the roads of North Dakota. Symptoms of mesothelioma include wheezing, fatigue, weight loss, shortness of breath, and chest wall pain.

Research into this topic is very important so that people will be able to recognize their risk of mesothelioma because it is such an aggressive form of cancer. If you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, contact the mesothelioma lawyers of Williams Hart today by calling 800-781-3955.
