A company in Poynette, Wisconsin is facing a $243,716 fine because they committed serious OSHA violations that resulted in five workers being exposed to workplace toxins, including asbestos and carbon monoxide (CO), an October 19 article of Channel 3000 reported.
Documents provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration revealed that A&A Environmental Services likely compromised the safety of their workers while renovating a nursing home facility in Madison. Aside from failing to measure CO levels, the workers were not properly trained in handling asbestos-laden debris. OSHA discovered in an investigation that the contractor committed 13 safety violations, many of which were serious, leading to asbestos and CO exposure of five workers. No one from the nursing home, including residents, were exposed to asbestos or CO.
