The Louisiana Record reported on August 8 that several companies are facing wrongful death lawsuits from a woman whose late husband allegedly died of asbestos-related cancer after he was exposed to the hazardous material in his workplace in Gretna.
According to Kermit Holmes’ widow Shirely, her husband succumbed to mesothelioma lung cancer and asbestosis in 2013 after he was exposed to asbestos as a shipyard worker. Shirely claimed that her husband’s workplace caused his asbestos exposure during the 70s due to lack of safety equipment. Her suit also alleges that facility officials failed to inform workers of asbestos hazards.
