On Tuesday, November 12, the White House rejected the Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency Act (FACT), a bill that would disclose details of asbestos victim claims. The bill was backed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
A statement released by the White House said that FACT was unconstitutional because it would divulge the personal details of people filing asbestos injury claims. Additionally, since asbestos fraud isn’t an issue, transparency is unnecessary.
