A demolition project in Oshkosh, Wisconsin is turning into a complicated project after additional asbestos has been discovered in the two structures.
The area surrounding the Park View Health Center was scheduled to be demolished so that the residents of the nursing facility have a better view of the outdoors. Initial asbestos surveys were conducted and showed that there were 11,000 square feet of asbestos present in the two structures. But after the construction company began the project, they noted that there were several more asbestos-affected areas than once previously thought.
Since the company has already started the demolition process, they have no choice but to continue with the project. The additional asbestos that was found in the structures will cost $300,000 to remove and three to four more weeks to complete.
