A school gym in Ohio has been closed for renovations that include removing asbestos-containing tiles.
School board officials announced that people who have recently been in the gym are not facing any health concerns, but the tiles had to be removed before renovations could start. Officials were originally going to put the new floor on top of the old tiles, but were told that this could not be done.
The removal of the old tiles will cost an additional sum of money up to $10,700. Environmental consultants attended the school board meetings in order to answer any questions that parents may have.
