The 15th asbestos lawsuit of the year was filed this week in St. Clair County Circuit Court in Illinois by Donna Stinson of Virginia.
Mrs. Stinson's recently deceased husband, Gerald P. Stinson, was exposed to asbestos containing products in his career as a boilermaker from 1963 to 2001 which caused him to develop fatal lung cancer. As a result of the exposure, Stinson became disfigured and disabled. His family is arguing that they all suffered mental anguish and high medical costs due to his condition. Furthermore, Stinson was forced to quit working, causing the family to lose a large source of income.
Mrs. Stinson named 98 companies as defendants in the lawsuit. She believes they should have known the dangerous and harmful affects of asbestos and failed to properly care for Stinson and his family.
