The St. Clair County Circuit Court in Illinois heard its fourteenth asbestos-related lawsuit in late April. A Massachusetts electrician claimed he was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos throughout his career.
According to court documents, the man and his wife are claiming that 45 companies failed to exercise reasonable caution and care of their employees and their families by exposing them to asbestos. Asbestos exposure is the primary cause of the rare and aggressive form of cancer, mesothelioma. The man worked at the electrician's mate school for th U.S. Navy. He also worked as boiler, furnace worker, and home remodeler for various companies in the 1960s.
