A judge awarded a Texas couple $11 million in an Asbestos suit. The couple filed the suit claiming that the husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma due to his exposure to asbestos during his career.
The family brings the suit against a mining company, Union Carbide Corporation and claimed laibility product manufacturers, Kelly Moore and and Georgia Pacific Bonex also contributed to the husband's diagnosis. The 67-year-old man spent much of his career as a union painter in the construction of buildings and strip malls.
During the 1960s and 1970s, asbestos was common on job sites because it was used in texturing paints, drywall components and other materials.
