A former paper mill worker and his wife have been awarded $10.2 million in damages after developing mesothelioma due to exposure to asbestos fibers in drying fabrics encountered during his 40 years on the job.
The suit was filed against two companies which produced dryer fabrics containing asbestos which were used on the paper machines the man worked with from 1964 to 2001. According to the terms of the suit, the toxic material was not labeled and the man was given no warnings that the products were hazardous to his health. The man was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2006.
