In Alaska, an Anchorage based contractor has been fined for asbestos violations. Coldfoot Environmental Services Inc carried out demolition projects at Harborview Hospital in Valdez and at two warehouses in Juneau and Valdez. The company did not notify inspectors of asbestos when they came out to the sites.
Because the company did not provide proper information, it will be subject to a $5,100 fine. In addition, the company will carry out a community service project that would amount to a $14,800 contract. The project will involve asbestos abatement for the building owned by Out North, a nonprofit community arts group.
