In Cortland, Ohio, the destruction of a school building is expected to cost around $1 million. The school started out as Cortland High School and now houses an elementary school. However, the Ohio School Facilities Commission says that students will not be returning to the building for the first time in 132 years.
The school is filled with asbestos materials, brining the asbestos abatement cost up to around $800,000. The building will be put up for auction in the fall, allowing any private schools in the area to purchase it. The building can be sold as is, but be incredibly expensive to demolish if there is no buyer.
