At Western Washington University, the Humanities Building was evacuated Monday because of a possible asbestos exposure. Contractors were performing renovations when they removed a piece of asbestos containing material without properly sealing it. This caused a potential exposure to all of the people in the building at the time.
There were no reported injuries from the asbestos exposure but everyone was evacuated from the building. Contractors and consultants are now assessing the situation to see whether the building needs to be cleaned or not. If there was significant exposure, it is possible that people were affected and will need to seek medical attention.
