The family of a retired sailor recently won their mesothelioma law suit against a ship parts manufacturer. The sailor was exposed to asbestos while working on ships in the Navy years ago. He died in April, just a few weeks before the trial against Illinois based manufacturer John Crane Inc was set to begin. He was 75 at the time.
On Monday, the jury in the case gave their ruling. They found in favor of the family against five manufacturers, assigning each of the companies a percentage of the $4 million award. However, four of the companies settled before this occurred. The fifth company, John Crane Inc, was assigned 30% and had to pay out $1.2 million to the family.
