Four former railroad workers are filing a law suit against several companies for exposing them to asbestos and other toxic substances. The suit has been filed in an Illinois circuit court seeking $1.4 million in damages. All four of the workers have developed asbestosis, a chronic lung condition that can lead to mesothelioima.
Mesothelioma is a very dangerous cancer that is caused by asbestos exposure. Workers in industrial lines of work are often susceptible to asbestos exposure because of the materials they work with. Even though asbestos has been banned for the most part in the US, people are still being diagnosed with mesothelioma because of its decades long latency period.
