A bowling alley collapsed over the weekend in Perry, Iowa. The collapse occurred shortly before 7pm on Saturday evening. The foundation may have caved in, but authorities are not entirely sure what caused the collapse. More of the building was purposefully collapsed to relieve stress on the rest of the building while it was cleared out.
The rest of the building will be torn down, but asbestos testing must occur first. If there is asbestos in the building, it will have to undergo abatement before it can be demolished. Unfortunately, if there is a lot of asbestos in the building, the original collapse may have released some of it into the air, possibly exposing the people who were there.
