The New York Capitol Building in Albany received a makeover to its third floor public restrooms. The renovations cost $463,000 and did a great deal for the restrooms. In addition to automatic toilets and sinks, as well as a good deal of marble, the restroom received necessary asbestos abatement. $55,000 of the renovation money went to the abatement.
With the asbestos abatement and renovations complete, the restrooms are now much safer. In addition to being in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the asbestos removal means that no one will be exposed to the dangerous substance which can lead to asbestosis and mesothelioma, dangerous forms of lung disease.
