The Connecticut Laborers' District Council recently expressed concern about the possibility of asbestos in Constitution Plaza where WFSB television used to be housed. Because of this, state inspectors looked over the site on Tuesday. They did not find any asbestos problems in the building.
The downtown building is being demolished to make way for a 12 story office building. The contractors responsible for this demolition have been cited in the past for unsafe practices regarding asbestos including using uncertified workers for asbestos removal. However, the current project is not in violation of any asbestos regulations.
