The hearing on the WR Grace trial has begun in Missoula. An indictment charges six executives with violation of the Clean Air Act and with obstructing an investigation by the EPA. The hearing and trial will decide whether or not these executives knew the dangers associated with operating the mine and withheld that information.
Asbestos has been blamed for the hundreds of deaths and illnesses in Libby, where the mine was operated. Asbestos is a fiber that is commonly associated with conditions like asbestosis and the incredibly dangerous cancer, mesothelioma. Unfortunately, the latency period between exposure and symptoms can last for decades, making it difficult to diagnose and even more difficult to treat.
The trial against WR Grace is set to begin on February 19th. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, contact the mesothelioma lawyers of Williams Kherkher at 800-220-9341.
