After the death of her husband, Doris Piacentine of Wisconsin filed an asbestos lawsuit in Illinois on October 30th, 2008. Mrs. Piacentine has stated that her husband, Edward C. Piacentine died from mesothelioma and that the disease was wrongfully caused by his former employers and other manufacturers. The lawsuit lists 109 defendant companies. According to Mrs. Piacentine, her husband worked as a meat packer at Purdy’s steak between the years of 1953 to 1955 and in 1957. From 1955 to 1957, he worked as a corpsman. He was also employed as a truck driver and construction worker in the late 50s to the late 60s, and from 1967 to 1996 he worked as an electrical inspector in Milwaukee, WI.
Mrs. Piacentine argues that her husband's mesothelioma was caused by the numerous toxins that he was exposed to including gasoline fumes, silica, diesel, toxins, and asbestos. She seeks economic, punitive, and compensatory damages.
