Big Tex has Asbestos

San Antonio, TX–In the month of November, dangeros concentrations of asbestos were discovered in the Big Tex industrial area in San Antonio, TX.  The industrial area is located near the San Antonio River.  The asbestos was discovered when the industrial area was undergoing environmental cleanup, which was supposd to be finished in December.  Because of the large amounts of asbestos, however, the cleanup will be extended into 2009.

Interestingly, the asbestos came from a mine company from Montana.  The mine company is currently facing criminal charges for sickness and deaths that occured when asbestos was mined with the ore that company mined.  This new revelation will clearly make it more difficult for the company to argue its case.

Despite the fact that asbestos was for the most part outlawed in 1970s in the United States, asbestos is still a major concern in the U.S., as many buildings were built before 1980 and had products containing asbestos used in their construction.  If you have or someone you know has been affected by asbestos, contact the Mesothelioma attorneys of Williams Kherkher by calling 1-800-220-9341.
