A woman diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable cancer caused by asbestos exposure, has filed suit against her husband’s former employer DuPont, and asbestos manufacturers Union Carbide, Ingersoll-Rand, Guard-Line, and others.
Frances Barras, of Nederland, TX, claims in her suit that she developed mesothelioma as a result of years of washing her husband’s contaminated work clothes. She accuses DuPont of failing to implement simple safety precautions which would have prevented her exposure. The suit also holds that the asbestos manufacturing companies failed to adequately warn Mr. Barras about the dangers of asbestos.
